We currently support four projects in South Africa. These four support our objectives by assisting young people in deprived communities to achieve their potential. These projects are practical, addressing real world problems and are improving living standards and opportunities for people in local communities in South Africa. They are doing this while respecting the conservation needs of the area be giving people sustainable ways of earning a living, no longer needing to use nature in an unsustainable way.
- Fencing Project in Hlabisa
This project allows farmers to grow crops while at the same time safeguarding the surrounding wildlife.
- Sizakala Creche
This crèche is near the Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park. It allows parents to leave their children in a safe environment while earning money to feed, clothe, house and educate them.
Pieter Hejinen, our partner on this project, raised £ 25.000 for the crèche. The team decided to invest the money in a new building. This enables them to provide a more appropriate environment for the 100+ children they now have on their books. We are proud to have contributed to this work and will stay closely in touch with Pieter and Dudu to identify further needs and hear how this project is developing.
- Vukukhanye Rural Development Trust
This project is very special indeed and we are proud to be able to support it. Mama Mimi’s breadmaking project teaches young people how to bake bread as a way of making a living, using local produce as input. It builds the confidence of young people in their own abilities and helps them to earn a living.

- The Newlands Youth Organisation
This is a very special project equipping young people with leadership skills enabling them to shape their own future and escape deprivation. It promotes Youth Leadership which is about conducting training workshops and running leadership camps to build the capacity of existing youth leadership structures – targeting representatives from learner structures, local clubs, churches and society. The content of the training covers organizational skills, understanding yourself, career development, planning your future, working in groups etc.
